Delivering on SDG 6 – showcasing international best practice in the food sector

Today, there are more people on our planet to feed with less water, productive land and a smaller rural labor force. The 2030 Agenda recognizes the challenge we face, and how important sustainable food systems and new ways of working the land and managing natural resources will be in building a viable future for humankind. It calls for us to make our agriculture and food systems more efficient and sustainable, and to shift to more sustainable consumption and production.

The 2030 Agenda includes a dedicated goal on water and sanitation (SDG 6) that sets out to “ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.” SDG 6 expands the MDG focus on drinking water and sanitation to cover the entire water cycle, including the management of water, wastewater and ecosystem resources. As the biggest water consumer globally, the food industry can play a key role in delivering on the water goal in the SDG agenda by transforming food and agriculture systems, and shifting to more sustainable diets.

At this seminar you will hear from some of the global food companies that have become leaders in water sustainability by promoting sustainable practices in their factories and supply chain while also inspiring consumers to make sustainable food choices. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn from international best-practice, and gain insights on how we can make the transformation to a more sustainable, water-efficient food system.
