Seminar: Transforming societies to meet the SDGs: The role of finance
Ameil is a climate finance technical advisor at SouthSouthNorth and works on a range of sectors, including off-grid renewable energy, Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU), and water infrastructure-related projects. He is the lead for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Environmental Social Safeguards (ESS) for the Southern Africa Climate Finance Partnership, a DfID funded programme that supports southern African countries in accessing finance from the Green Climate Fund, and coordinates the Mobilising Finance workstream of the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Development Facility (CRIDF), a DfID funded infrastructure development facility that works on pro-poor, climate resilient and transboundary water infrastructure in southern Africa.
Ameil has a particular interest in innovative financing solutions and how finance can be used to scale climate ambition to implement Nationally Determined Contributions. He has a background in marine and applied biology and studied at the University of Cape Town.
