Cardinal Turkson to speak on water and faith during World Water Week
His Eminence Cardinal Turkson, President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, Vatican has been confirmed to speak at the opening of this year’s World Water Week.
This August, Cardinal Turkson from the Vatican will partake in the World Water Week Opening Plenary. He will also present the keynote at a panel on water and faith on Monday afternoon.
The event will highlight the importance of partnership between Faith Based Organizations and the Water Development Community to achieve the water related Sustainable Development Goals. It will bring together high level representatives of global faith communities including Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu and Sikh representatives to build bridges of dialogue and commitment to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6 which proposes to ”Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.”
Earlier this year, the Cardinal presented a keynote at the High-Level Thematic Debate on Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals held in New York.
Originally from Ghana, the Cardinal was created and proclaimed Cardinal by the Bl. John Paul II in the Consistory of 21 October 2003, of the Title of S. Liborio (St. Liborius).
