Swedish Water House and Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) are looking to engage Master students, PhD students and young professionals as Junior Rapporteurs of the upcoming World Water Week (August 27 – September 1). Candidates should, preferably, be based in Sweden and possess a special interest or expertise in water, wastewater or any of the subjects to be discussed at World Water Week 2017. This year’s theme is “Water and waste: reduce and reuse”: read the complete thematic scope here.

World Water Week in Stockholm is the annual focal point for the globe’s water issues. Experts, practitioners, decision-makers, business innovators and young professionals from a range of sectors and countries come to Stockholm to network, exchange ideas, foster new thinking and develop solutions to the most pressing water- and development-related challenges of today.

As a Junior Rapporteur, you will be an instrumental part of the reporting and conclusions process. Together with experienced Lead Rapporteurs, you will follow pre-identified themes during the Week to capture, summarize and analyse the discussions in relation to the overall aim of the Week. The rapporteurs will be given Terms of Reference along with questions and issues to keep in mind as they follow workshops, seminars and side events. The key messages distilled by the rapporteurs will be presented during the closing plenary session on September 1. The key messages will also feature prominently in the Overarching Conclusions document published during the autumn, as well as in social media. Reporting may also feed into international processes on science and policy development.

The position does not include any remuneration. However, successful candidates will be granted free registration to the conference, which includes lunches. All other expenses (travel, accommodation, etc) must be covered by the individual. Volunteering with World Water Week will give you great opportunities to network and develop your analytical skills under professional guidance. Please note that this is both an important and time consuming assignment.

Kindly submit your application here.
Deadline for application is May 1, 2017.
Selected candidates will be designated an appropriate thematic area to focus on and a Lead Rapporteur to work with during the week.
