Seyram Asimah

Seminar: Women and youth: Living apart together

Seyram Asimah is a development professional with eight years’ experience working in Ghana’s water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector.

She graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2009. Her interest in water led her to pursue a MSc in Water and Environmental Management from Loughborough University’s Water Engineering and Development Centre where she graduated in 2010.

She’s currently working with WaterAid Ghana (WAG) as an engineer with an interest in public health. She is the project lead for one of WaterAid’s WASH in Healthcare facilities projects. In this role, she works to ensure that all water and sanitation facilities provided are gender sensitive with designs that consider the needs of the marginalised and vulnerable. She is also the focal person for Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM). In this role, she champions designs that are MHM friendly as she simultaneously leads WAG’s interventions to demystify taboos around menstruation. When she is not thinking about more inclusive and women/girl friendly design and public health engineering, Ms. Asimah is consumed with her other passion: creative writing.

She previously worked with TREND Ghana, a WASH focused research centre.
