Sida, SIWI sign 4-year agreement

Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) has increased its core support to SIWI, signing a 4-year agreement for SEK 30 million annually for the period 2016-2019 . The new agreement signals recognition by the Swedish Government of the importance of freshwater to economic, social and environmental sustainability and human security.  

Mr. Torgny Holmgren, SIWI’s Executive Director, welcomed the new agreement:

“As the water situation in the world grows more alarming, the demand for collaboration, capacity-building and knowledge on water-related issues is increasing. This agreement better positions SIWI to take on the water challenges of today and tomorrow in building a water wise world.”
