Textile and water project shortlisted for global sustainability award

The successful Sustainable Water Resources (SWAR) project has been shortlisted as one of five finalists for the prestigious Global Leadership Award in Sustainable Apparel (GLASA).

SWAR is a pilot project carried out within the framework of Sweden Textile Water Initiative, and is a cooperation between Swedish brands and their Indian suppliers, SIWI, Sida, and India-based consultancy cKinetics.

Annually the GLASA network identifies an important topic to frame. The theme chosen for 2015 is Water. The award is designed to identify the most promising leadership and practices in the chosen area and in 2015, GLASA will produce a state of the apparel sector report focused on water.

The GLASA jury is comprised of leaders from Nordic industry and Sustainability Networks such as the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, Danish Fashion Institute, SEB and the Association of Swedish Fashion Brands. The GLASA process is coordinated by The Sustainable Fashion Academy (SFA), a not-for-financial-profit organisation.

The final award will be announced at a global symposium and award ceremony in Stockholm on August 27 2015.
