UN Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson and former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd have been confirmed to speak at 2016 World Water Week, which will include a stock-taking of water in the Agenda 2030.
This August, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Jan Eliasson will return to Stockholm to present a keynote speech at the high level panel on Agenda 2030 at World Water Week. The former Prime Minister of Australia, and Chair of Sanitation and Water for All, Hon. Kevin Rudd will also attend.
The Deputy Secretary-General’s speech “Water in the 2030 Agenda” will be part of a high level event to be held on Thursday August 1, Building a Resilient Future through Water. The event will highlight possible strategies for delivering on the 2030 Agenda and strengthening climate resilience through wise water management. It will also show how the implementation of the 2030 and climate agendas can be better integrated – with water as a useful connector.
Mr Rudd will participate in the Stockholm Water Prize Symposium on Wednesday 31 August, alongside this year’s Stockholm Water Prize Laureate, Dr Joan Rose, and Dr Rita Colwell, Laureate of the Prize in 2010.
