Urban Climate Change Adaptation in the Baltic Sea Region
How to stay resilient and mitigate vulnerability of our urban areas to the changing climate? How can we be better prepared to meet the challenges with adequate tools and skills to handle different emergency situations? What is direct and indirect impact of climate change on the urban areas? What are the possibilities and constraints to the adaptation?
Baltic Development Forum, Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) and the Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC) in collaboration with the Alliance for Global Water Adaptation are pleased to kick off a new initiative Urban Climate Change Adaptation in the Baltic Sea Region, a one-year project co-financed by the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS).
The project provides opportunities for capacity building, training and applying the skills to existing situations. The project will focus on establishing connections between climate change and sustainable development of urban areas.
A series of workshops will be carried out in the Baltic Sea Region (Copenhagen, Stockholm, Turku) to connect decision makers and local practitioners (cities and municipalities) engaged in climate change adaptation areas and to train them in a set of risk management approaches known as bottom-up strategies. Discussions will be based on knowledge sharing, capacity building and raising awareness of available methodologies.
