SIWI is seeking eight committed Young Water Professionals to provide support to the World Water Week’s Scientific Programme Committee.

Joining the Young Scientific Programme Committee is an opportunity for young professionals to expand their network and gain valuable experience.

Tasks of the Young Scientific Programme Committee
The eight members of the Young Scientific Programme Committee work together with the Scientific Programme Committee to develop the programme of the seminars. Their tasks:

  • Screen and review the abstracts received for each of the seminars (January to March)
  • Provide support to the planning of the seminar programme (April to August)
  • Support the seminar rapporteur teams and join the Best Poster Award jury during World Water Week

SIWI’s commitment
As one of the leading actors in the water sector, Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) is interested in developing the future leaders of the water community. SIWI has organised the prestigious Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition since 1997, and since 2008 the Young Water Professionals Seminar. Convened together with the International Water Association, both have been steady features during World Water Week.

The Young Scientific Programme Committee initiative, which started in 2011, provides professionals at the start of their careers with an exciting opportunity to collaborate with top level scientist and water professionals in developing the programme of one of the most renowned water conferences. Meanwhile, the involvement of young professionals will provide the Scientific Programme Committee with fresh input and perspectives.

SIWI will provide each of the YSPC members with a full week complimentary registration to the World Water Week.

Background
Since 1991, the World Water Week has been the leading annual focal point for the globe’s water issues. Hosted and organised by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), the World Water Week provides a unique forum for exchange of views, experiences and practices between the scientific, business, policy and civic communities.

Each year the World Water Week addresses a particular theme to enable a deeper examination of a specific water related topic. The thematic scope for the World Water Week is formulated by its Scientific Programme Committee (SPC), which also sets the seminar topics, reviews and selects the submitted abstracts and develops the seminar programmes.

The theme for the 2016 World Water Week is Water for Sustainable Growth .
