Bonn Water Dialogues

The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), on behalf of the entire German government, are organizing the Bonn Water Dialogues.

The initiative consists of a virtual dialogue series that aims at accelerating the cross-sectoral implementation of the water-related goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and will present a set of messages for governments, the UN system, and the multilateral community ahead of HLPF.

The Dialogues build on the SDG 6 Global Acceleration Framework, and recommends concrete measures for local, regional, and national governments, as well as the multilateral community and UN system, to take on finance, data and information, capacity development, innovation, and governance.

SIWI has been one of the members of the Steering Committee of the Dialogues and involved in developing the recommendations. Additionally, SIWI hosted the Expert Roundtable on Innovation on 27 May 2021, which aimed to further develop the messages and recommended measures around innovation.

The Dialogues culminated on 1 July 2021, in a High-Level virtual Conference on SDG 6
