High-Level Panel: Innovative approaches for peace

Following on the heels of the UN 2023 Water Conference, this High-Level Panel explores the interlinkages between environmental degradation, climate change and peace from the perspectives of countries, business, organizations and communities.

Climate change and environmental degradation intensify risks that reduce peace and stability. These crises can intensify drivers that increase fragility, thereby undermining resilience and stability of societies. While the crises are inherently intertwined, potential solutions have all too often been kept separate.

Commitments for the Water Action Decade have the potential to contribute to peace and conflict prevention by taking a nexus approach. Effective solutions to addressing these crises require innovative and interdependent approaches that cross boundaries, engage diverse stakeholders and have actions at multiple levels.
