Thank you for voting in the People’s Choice Award!

When the People’s Choice Award closed on 12 August, a record number of 55,000 people had voted for their favourite Stockholm Junior Water Prize projects. A big thank you to everyone who took part. Stay tuned to learn who won on 24 August.

Make sure to mark your calendars – the awards ceremony on 24 August (2pm CEST) will be something very special. That is when HRH Crown Princess Victoria will announce the winner of the 2021 Stockholm Junior Water Prize, selected by a jury of international water experts. The jury also awards a Diploma of Excellence. Another exciting part of the ceremony is when we learn who wins the 2021 People’s Choice Award.

The People’s Choice Award was an immediate success when it was first introduced in 2020, with 26,000 people voting. This year voting went through the roof, with 55,000 votes cast as the voting closed on 12 August.

“We are really happy to see the great interest! All the entries received votes, which is testament to the consistently high quality of all the projects competing in the finals,” says Ania Andersch who manages the Stockholm Junior Water Prize at SIWI.

The People’s Choice Award was initiated to further emphasize that the Stockholm Junior Water Prize is much more than a competition. It encourages innovation and scientific solutions to water-related problems. The People’s Choice Award is one way to let even more people know of the great ideas the Stockholm Junior Water Prize finalists come up with.

“It is important to get the message out about these solutions that can really make a difference. And of course, to celebrate the brilliant young innovators who take part in the Stockholm Junior Water Prize. I hope many people will join us for the award ceremony on 24 August,” Ania Andersch says.

To follow the award ceremony, on 24 August at 2pm CEST, you must be registered for the World Water Week. It is free of charge and also gives you access to more than 400 interesting sessions – so sign up now.
