Water Resourcement Management: Development, Integration and Implementation

GoAL-WaterS has worked with UN-Habitat in Laos to develop a guide to improve the management of water resources at the local level in Laos. These guidelines aim at understanding the enabling environment (laws and policies, water user dialogues and finance opportunities) and the recognising the absent knowledge on water resources management that is to frame vulnerability assessment as well as the following resilience building.

In the current context of rapid urbanisation and vulnerability to the effects of climate change, improving the management of water resources using IWRM processes will help maximise the efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainable use of water resources for local socio-economic development while protecting and preserving the environment to mitigate climate change events and disaster risks.
