Eco-Friendly and Cost-Effective Water Purification for Highly Polluted and Saline Sources Using Solar Powered Distillation and Activated Carbon.

The project aimed to address the salinity and arsenic contamination of water sources in Bangladesh through a solar-powered distillation system and activated carbon treatment. The study found that the treated water samples demonstrated significant improvements in various parameters, including pH, TDS, EC, DO, BOD, COD, salinity, and arsenic levels, making them safe for consumption. The solar-powered distillation system effectively removed impurities and dissolved solids, while the activated carbon treatment eliminated additional harmful substances. The system proved to be cost-effective, eco-friendly, and scalable, offering a promising solution to the global water crisis. By providing clean and safe drinking water, the project aimed to improve the health and well-being of affected communities and contribute to a sustainable future.

This is how I came up with the idea for this project:

I drew inspiration from the hydrological cycle for our project. By utilizing solar-powered distillation and activated carbon treatment, I aimed to purify water, replicating the evaporation and condensation stages. My goal was to provide clean drinking water, inspired by nature's continuous movement of water on Earth.

Solar-Powered Distillation and Activated Carbon Treatment: A Sustainable Solution for Water Purification and Contamination Remediation.

This paper presents a comprehensive study on addressing salinity and arsenic household issues in water sources through the implementation of a solar-powered distillation and activated carbon treatment system. The research aims to provide a sustainable and cost-effective solution to improve water quality by removing harmful contaminants. The study includes an analysis of various parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen, total dissolved solids, electrical conductivity, biological and chemical oxygen demand, salinity, and arsenic levels before and after treatment. The results demonstrate significant reductions in contaminants, making the treated water safe for consumption. The solar-powered distillation system offers a reliable and eco-friendly approach to mitigate the pressing challenges of salinity and arsenic contamination, ultimately improving the quality of life for affected communities.
