Hello everyone, my name is Erik I’m 17 years old and i’m from Novara a small town in the north of Italy, I study chemistry at the high school in my town.
I have many interests in my life including playing videogames, listen music, reading books, especially science fiction and thrillers, and above all I enjoy studying science subjects such as physics, mathematics and the one I love most of all, chemistry. Plus I really enjoy combat sports such as karate, taekwondo.
Tell us what the water concern in your country is!
I think that the problem with water in my country is its scarcity, especially in the south of the country in the most sultry periods we even ration it.
This is what I think is one of the solutions for a sustainable future:For me a solution to the problems in my country would be more controls in the disposal of waste and chemicals.
RAWTRAP : Nano-traps from rice ashes to purify water
The Rawtrap project was born from the need to address the important issue of water purification using waste materials from rice production. Specifically, it focuses on the use of rice husk, a waste material rich in silica. This allows us to synthesize nanoparticles called MCM-41 to create a molecular sieve capable of capturing pollutants. These nanoparticles are very chemically stable and resistant even at high temperatures. We have focused our research on the adsorption of a specific dye called Rhodamine B, primarily used in the textile industry.
