Leonie Prillwitz

Hi, I am Leonie. Nice to get to know you!

I am a scout, 19 years old and want to make the underwater world seen and appreciated above the surface, too.

Science, scuba diving, swimming, dancing and the sea are some of my favorite things.

Currently I am volunteering at the Alfred-Wegener-Institut for Polar and Marine Research.

Tell us what the water concern in your country is!

In between Alps and Baltic, running waters go through major changes. Not only does the groundwater supply threat to run low due to straightened rivers, the latter also get enriched by nutrients and fines by agricultural land use. Germany is currently facing the challenge of orientating agriculture towards water conservation.

This is what I think is one of the solutions for a sustainable future:

Water is where life originates from and its most basic need. So ensure its proper handling by: - Holding the polluters accountable for the purification costs. - Balancing out the various different qualities of wastewater treatment. - Reminding yourself regularly of your responsibility as an industry, a government, a society.
