Innovation Sprint Announcements

SIWI’s TIARA project or Transforming Investments in African Rainfed Agriculture has been selected as a climate innovation sprint by the Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate (AIM for Climate), a joint initiative by the United States and the United Arab Emirates. AIM for Climate seeks to address climate change and global hunger by uniting participants to significantly increase investment in, and other support for, climate-smart agriculture and food systems innovation over five years (2021 – 2025). TIARA aims at unlocking the power of enhanced rainfed agriculture to improve Africa’s agriculture productivity while adapting and building resilience to climate change – We look forward to be featured as an Innovation Sprint partner at the COP27.

Catch Xanani Baloyi of SIWI who will discuss the following:

  1. What the innovation sprint is seeking to achieve at a high level
  2. Funding TIARA has raised so far
  3. Potential needs for additional funding
  4. Potential needs and/or types of partners TIARA is seeking.

About Innovation Sprints

This AIM for Climate-hosted event will feature virtual announcements by new innovation sprint partners during COP27. Innovation sprint partners will announce and amplify their innovation sprints, highlighting high-level goals and financing, as well as any additional funding and partners needed. An innovation sprint is a non-government-funded increase in investment to achieve a specific, measurable outcome or output in agriculture innovation for climate-smart agriculture.
