Held at the landmark United Nations Ocean Conference on 30 June in Lisbon, the side event “Safety, equity and sustainability from source to sea — collaborative science-based and data-driven approaches” brought together leading experts on ocean safety, transdisciplinary science and the source-to-sea approach to discuss how these can each contribute to developing a just, sustainable blue economy.
The Stockholm International Water Institute, the Action Platform for Source-to-Sea Management, Accenture, Stockholm Resilience Centre, HUB Ocean, UN Global Compact and Lloyd’s Register Foundation came together to present how these three themes could be interwoven to ensure that the benefits of the ocean economy are shared equitably while ecosystems thrive.
