Faecal sludge management book
Over a billion people in urban and peri-urban areas of Africa, Asia, and Latin America are served by onsite sanitation technologies. Hence, the adequate management of faecal sludge is essential for ensuring adequate sanitation services and protecting human health and the environment.
This emerging topic has been addressed by EAWAG/SANDEC in the first “Faecal Sludge Management” Book which compiles the current state of knowledge of this rapidly evolving field, and presents an integrated approach that includes technology, management and planning. The Water Governance Facility, together with UNDP in Costa Rica have supported the translation of this important work to Spanish, to support its application in the Latin American context.
