A workshop and training in Malawi, under the the TIARA programme, explored the potential with rainfed agriculture and sustainable farming practices to boost yields, restore landscapes, and strengthen resilience in the Zambezi Basin.
In a world grappling with food insecurity and climate challenges, the Zambezi Basin has emerged as a stage for innovative agricultural transformation. The Transforming Investments in African Rainfed Agriculture (TIARA) programme, led by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), focuses on transforming rainfed agriculture by increasing crop yields and in-field productivity. This involves promoting sustainable practices that recharge water, restore soil health, sequester carbon, and strengthen biodiversity.
This workshop report details the strides in enhancing rainfed agriculture, which is a lifeline for much of sub-Saharan Africa. Download the report for a deeper understanding of the potential with rainfed agriculture, and key practices such as deep bed farming, a method revolutionizing crop yields while restoring soil health.
