SIWI’s Bogotá office was founded in 2021. Its team members are water governance and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) experts and engage in advocacy, research, and capacity building.
Countries in the LAC region face a range of challenges around the provision of WASH, which have intensified with climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic. Access to clean WASH services is one of the most urgent development issues and key for health, poverty eradication, and sustainable development.
The Bogotá team provides expert advice on WASH to governments and other decision makers on regional, national, and local levels. By increasing the water governance capacity around WASH services, the Bogotá team contributes directly to Sustainable Development Goal 6 regarding universal access to clean water and sanitation. With its deep local and regional knowledge and experience, the team also supports other SIWI departments’ projects and activities across LAC.
