Information from SIWI’s Board

The Stockholm Water Foundation, SWF has as its primary task to award the Stockholm Water Prize and Stockholm Junior Water Prize. Through collaboration with the Royal Academy of Science and long-term funding partners, the scientific quality and value of the Prizes will be ensured.

The foundation Stockholm International Water Institute, SIWI is responsible for planning and arranging the annual World Water Week, making Stockholm a world-leading meeting place for water experts from academia, NGOs, private and public sector.

Parallel to the final preparations for WWW 2024, which takes place the final week of August, SIWI had already started planning for World Water Week 2025 with the SWF water Prizes integrated in the program of the conference.

The board of SWF sees opportunities to develop the importance of the Prizes and strengthen World Water Week for the future. For this we seek serious partners who want to participate in the funding and managing of World Water Week in Stockholm.

Tackling climate change and ensuring access to safe water for all, are crucial global challenges. SIWI’s work to address these, through its international water projects, continues to be of great importance. The board has therefore decided to try to transfer these parts of SIWI’s operations to other well-established actors in the field.

The work on adapting SIWI’s organization is ongoing and is planned to be completed during the autumn 2024.

The ongoing changes affect all parts of SIWI’s organization. It is important to ensure that all existing agreements are handled responsibly and that the transfer of any operations will take place in an orderly manner.
