Since 2018, SIWI has organized an annual High-Level Panel on Water Diplomacy to draw attention to the role of water for peace and to bring together different actors.

2020 Climate-Smart Security
On 21 September 2020 this event was held with high-profile speakers from:
- EcoPeace Middle East
- The Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs
- The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO)
- Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK)
Participants reflected on challenges from the diplomatic, security, climate research, and civil society perspectives.
2019 Inclusive Water Diplomacy
During World Water Week 2019, a High-Level Panel on Water Diplomacy was held on the topic Managing Water in Trying Times: Inclusive Water Diplomacy.
2018 Water Diplomacy: a Tool for the Future?
The topic of the 2018 High-Level Panel on Water Diplomacy was how water diplomacy can be more extensively used in the future. The topic was also discussed in a SIWI Sofa interview during World Water Week.
