PROJECT: INTERNATIONAL POLICYUnited Nations

Water is crucial to achieving the 2030 Agenda. To raise awareness, SIWI actively participates in the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.

In 2015, the global community launched the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development, with 17 Sustainable Development Goals that should be met by 2030. Thanks to SIWI and other members of the water community, a specific water goal was included, namely SDG 6. We can now closely keep track of global efforts to achieve the goal, where much more needs to be done.

At the same time, SIWI helps the world understand how crucial water is to achieve all the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and tackling climate change. We participate in the yearly High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development that monitors global progress on the goals and offer policy recommendations to both governments and international community.
