SIWI, ZAMCOM, CIFOR-ICRAF, FANRPAN and other stakeholders are developing innovative methodologies across the Zambezi catchment to test various approaches to unlocking value, building an empirically based business case for investing in enhanced rainfed agriculture. Examples of this work will be presented, including soil moisture and solute measuring and monitoring, payment for ecosystem services, soil carbon sequestration credits, and microfinance and other types of financing instruments.
