thomas.rebermark@siwi.org +46 (0)72 0506 085Climate resilience increasingly depends on how water is managed. Yet as water becomes more prominent in global climate discussions, attention is shifting from recognizing its importance to delivering the governance, financing, infrastructure, and partnerships needed to strengthen resilience.
Drawing on SIWI’s participation in four engagements at London Climate Action Week 2026, this SIWI Insight Brief explores the key themes emerging across discussions on climate finance, sustainable infrastructure, nature-based solutions, and cross-sector collaboration. Together, these conversations pointed to a common direction: water is becoming central to climate resilience, but implementation must now catch up with ambition.
The brief identifies five key signals shaping the international agenda, including the growing recognition of nature as infrastructure, the need to connect available capital with investable water opportunities, and the increasing importance of integrating water into climate finance and infrastructure planning. It also highlights how discussions are expanding beyond individual projects towards systems-based approaches that connect governance, investment, and implementation.
